up!up! in the sky...

Holiday …holiday …holiday … Cameron Highlands here I come! I was very excited because this semester breaks my family and I will have our vacation in Cameron Highlands. My father wants to celebrate my mother birthday up at the hill. My younger sister was very happy because my family has not had any vacation for such a long time. This is because each of us had been very busy with our own routine. So, this is the moment we all can get together. Even though my two lovely brothers can’t join us because they are at overseas, but we still have lots of fun and enjoy ourselves.

At the hill I had drank a tea which is raspberry flavor. It was a good tea and also its flavor. I liked it so much and makes me bought two boxes of it with others flavor as well. After I take a walk at the tea farm and factory my father took us to strawberry farm. My favorite is strawberry and at there I have eaten lots of strawberries. I am very happy up at the hill because the weather was so cold and can gather with my family too. Seldom can we get the best time for ourselves.

Besides the two farms we also go to the butterfly farm and night market there. It just same like other night market, but they sold tempura mushroom with others vegetables that we can get form up there in fresh. My younger sister liked it so much that she always bought it and ate together with all of us. My mother and my elder sister have take a look for the fresh vegetables to take it home. They want to cook it back home for us because it was so fresh.

After a long walk we decided to go back home because we have already spent two days up there. For two days we only walked and walked because we loved to do so. Hahaha …I have bought some key chain for my friends and it same goes to my younger sister. We have bought some other stuff for our own and friends too.

Although I am on vacation, but I not forgot with my assessment that Miss asked us to do. I take my free time to do all the works that she gave to me and same to other subject too. I not finished it up yet, but I promise to myself that I have to do as fast as I can because the dateline is just around the corner.

My semester breaks is already finished and no matter what I have to go back to my college. Soon, I have to face my ordinary routine as a student of MPCIM…

Sawadikap… this is the last week before I gone for the midterm holiday. At this week my mind is already at my hometown. No more assessment or assignment that I want to do, but there are lots of week to go before my final examination. Whatever it is I have to do it because I don’t want to finish it up at last minute. This will burden me and cause me to burn the midnight oil.

For this week Miss has pass to all of us our assessment and assignment too. Same goes to other subject we have already received it earlier. Although we said we don’t want another assignment, but still my lecturer gave it to us because it was compulsory.

Miss explains about what we have to do for the assessment. There is three of it and one of it we have to do a role – play. This role – play will involve in such a large group. I hope my group cam manage to do the best role – play without any argument or clash idea.

Finished with Miss explanation she ended the class and let all of us to go back for the holiday. We all very happy and hope to see all the members in the new becoming week.

Namastee… this week we have to watch a movie entitled Empire of the Sun because there is one story connected with it which is The Interview. It almost the same because both of it is about war. The moment I watched this movie I thought it was a slow movie and of course quit bored because it about war and a bit historical. After continued watching it was not that really bored because it has funny elements and fight too.

The story has the ending that very good and makes all of us satisfied when watching it. We don’t felt disappointed at all because some of us said it just wasting our time. The movie must be not that interesting, but after watching it we felt not that bad.

In our next class, we have been discussing about Mariah. We came out with our best opinion and point of view about this story. We have made the discussion further and has included with our own experience about love. As usual, Miss will tell us about her experience with all her boyfriends. How she met them and how was their relationship. It was funny and lots of story that want to discuss about.

We found that some of her stories likely the same like our loved story. We exchanged story and experience about nowadays men behavior and principle. It was quite interesting topic to discuss because most of us are in loved right now. Hahaha… whatever it is study come first than anything else.

Although Miss always told us about her story especially about her love one she never forgets to remind us about the purpose of General English 2. She asked us about our journal or blog, do we have finished it up or still in progress… she also wants all of us kept continue to read the short stories and try to understand what exactly the writer wants to tell the reader.

So, we as her student never neglected whatever she told us to do. We loved our lecturer because she was very sporting and kind to us. We will do all her work even though we always asked to cancel the class. Hehehe…

.....

We met again… thank God at last Miss had entered the class. My friends and I were very pleasant to see our beloved and most sporting lecturer back to our college again. We felt very sorry for Miss because of her tiredness that she just comes back from the ‘induksi’. Our second class was held in joyful and with loud laugh because Miss told us about her experience there. She said that there is a man who wanted to seduce her.

Haha… so funny. For this class Miss elaborate more about the elements of stories. There are eight of elements in it and each of them has its own explanation. With all the information and notes that Miss gave it makes me understand more about the stories. Actually, we have learned about this in our former primary school, but no matter what it is we have to learn it again.

For your information, I am not that used to read literature because I think it just like History subject and it also same goes to Miss (just joke). Hahaha… but Miss has its own story and ways in order to make all of us loved and understand the stories well.

Before she ends the class she asked all of us to read the Bugis once again for the next class. She wants all of us to understand and try to look it in a different way that it is the story about.

In the next class, we have discussed about Bugis. Our class has been divided into four groups which each group have five members. Miss asked all of us to point out all the eight elements in a story referring to the Bugis. All of us manage to come out with our own opinion and point of view.

We make Miss satisfied, but she said that we only looked at the surface without going deeper about Bugis. She said as a literature student we must to do so. All of us a bit disappointed because we cannot manage to elaborate more about Bugis. This is maybe because we still blur about literature and cannot come out with what Miss wants.

After all it’s okay, but Miss wanted us to really understand with the second story which is Mariah. She hopes that in the next discussion we all can give our best opinion and point of view.

What's more.???

Hi! Aloha… now it is already week three, but still Miss Syahidah gone for her ‘induksi’. That mean I have not entered the class yet. It’s a lie if I said I don’t happy because of that, but deep in my heart I felt very worried because another class has started their lesson already. Some of them have gone through the short stories and others had done their role – played. I hope that my class can catch up all of it after Miss Syahidah came back.

For not further a due, I took my responsibility with reading the second story which is Mariah. I kept wondering why is it the writers choose such a weird title for their story. Ermmm, maybe they have their own reason for doing that and maybe they just wanted the reader to think what it is this story about.

Back to the track, this story was held in one of a village in Kelantan. Mariah is a nasi seller and she is a widower. All of the people in the village loved with Mariah ‘nasi berlauk’ and it is famous among the men. Actually, Mariah ‘nasi berlauk’ it is not that good, but don’t know why they all loved to eat it. Before I forgot, ‘nasi berlauk’ is Kelantanese breakfast and it just likes our Malaysian ‘nasi lemak’.

From my opinion, I think it is because Mariah herself who cooked and as we all know a widower will always be people attention. This is only my opinion, I didn’t say it is a must, but in this world it always is like this. Hahaha …

Okay, this story had made up a conflict between Pak Imam which well known as a good person had some trouble with his wife, Cik Yam. This is because Pak Imam remembered his first loved who he believed is Mariah. Due to that he wanted to married Mariah no matter what is happened.

Before that Cik Yam has a heart feeling with her husband because Pak Imam refused to eat her ‘nasi berlauk’ and prefer Mariah’s ‘nasi berlauk’. Now, Pak Imam asked her permission to marry Mariah.

If I were Pak Imam’s wife, I have to think twice…no! More than twice in order to let my own husband to marry another woman, in other way is ‘bermadu’. Although, we as a Muslim we believed that we will get ‘payung emas’ in heaven, but we as an ordinary people it is hardly to except it.

So, in this story it shows that we cannot expect what will happen in the future. Normally, what we do not want it to happen, it will happen without any warning. We as a human being have to accept it without any comment. All the things that happen have its own reason…

Olaa...

Hello, there… welcome back in this new entry. For the second week for my life here there’s nothing much I want to share with all of you because I still not entered the General English 2 class because of Miss Syahidah absentee. Due to that I have to continue with my reading which is I have told you before.

For this week I have read the first short stories entitled Bugis. Let me review a bit about this story. First thing first I heard my friends mentioned about the title Bugis, I expect that it must be a historical story about a war which involved by Bugis or whatsoever. Later, after me myself had read it I realize that this is not a historical story, but it is about teenage life.

Salmah has never used to wear tudung before, but suddenly had changed her appearance because of her boyfriend Sazalie (who cannot pronounce ‘R’ well. The narrator once have become Salmah best friend ever had turn to be Salmah number one enemy. The narrator hate Salmah so much because of her attitude that the narrator though it was very hypocrite.

Another reason why the narrator does so it is because she also had a feeling towards Sazalie. In addition, the way Salmah behave herself which is she pretends to be so ladies in front of boys rather than the narrator. That is why Sazalie attract more to Salmah.

Why Bugis? I also kept wondering why… Bugis, is a street in Singapore which called Bugis Road late in 1979. At the street there are lots of transsexual just same like nowadays in Malaysia, for example Jalan Haji Taib.

After all, for me Bugis is an interesting story because it has covered all of the lifecycle in this world. Maybe some of us cannot accept this story, but if we take a look by other side it actually has lots of moral values there.
